Douglas A. Irwin, nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics since February 2018, is the John French Professor of Economics at Dartmouth College. He is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He served on the staff of the President's Council of Economic Advisers in 1986–87 and in the Division of International Finance at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 1988–91. Prior to joining the faculty at Dartmouth, Irwin taught at the business school at the University of Chicago.
