The paper deals with many detailed issues relating to the policy framework in which African management development institutions (MDIs) operate. This summary covers the following general, key issues which emerged during the seminar: (a) potential role of the MDIs; (b) conditions for fulfilling that role; (c) relationship between MDIs and African leadership; (d) goverance of the MDIs; (e) focus on faculty development and management; (e) financial structure of the MDIs; and (f) responsibility for taking initiatives for reform. The paper also discusses key recommendations for future impact of MDIs and strategies for policy reform.
