Various authors discuss privatization providing critical mass to kick-start new stock markets; privatization supplying investment opportunities that deepen existing stock markets; privatization often receiving a crucial boost from telecommunications; and privatization generating new and broader types of investor participation. The book considers important market instruments and institutions - depository receipts, privatization bonds, emerging market investment funds, and pension funds - and their contribution to privatization and emerging stock market development.
