All members of society agree that ensuring the safety and security of children in schools is a priority, but achieving this objective is not a given. The number of problems and threats facing schools from within and without is vast, and in some countries the range of incidents is increasing. In response, the variety of approaches used to confront these challenges in society and education is growing too.
